My husband took me here for my birthday and my expectations were surpassed! This is a great stop if you're interested in fossils, rock hounding, or just spending some time outdoors. The prices are reasonable and the experience you get out of your money is well worth it. The staff is admirable and friendly, they were very helpful and kind. I really enjoyed my visit and can't wait to go back!

It's very much a "tourist trap" set up but it's a nice one. The Cafe had good burgers and salads, some typical all American diner type cuisine. The mini mine was also a nice setup. With some pacience and a good eye you can get a nice little haul out of there. I am definitely going to go back a few times with some other people just to have a good time. Only complaint was that it is pretty far from other town which means that travel has to be planned out ahead of time.

If you’re looking for food between Dillon, MT and Idaho Falls, ID, this place is a great stop. We weren’t sure it was open anymore because we passed a lot of closed-down businesses after we exited the highway and before we got to the cafe. Also, the building is mostly an opal store and mine, so the cafe part wasn’t readily apparent to us until we saw the tables in the rear of the building. The menu is simple with the stalwart breakfast and lunch/dinner dishes and sandwich offerings. The menu prices very reasonable. My wife and I had breakfast here. I had biscuits and gravy along with a cinnamon roll. My wife had the breakfast burrito. My biscuits tasted freshly made and the gravy had nice chunks of sausage in it. The breakfast burrito was on the smaller side (which my wife appreciated) but it was less than $4 and was very good. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Clean restrooms and 2 gas pumps if you need to fuel up your vehicle. I’m glad we made the stop.

We love this shop/cafe' with its display of rocks, opal jewelry and boxes upon boxes of loose slabs. The food is also amazing!! We haven't made it to the opal mining yet, but we will be back!

Amazing, fantastic lunch, hot cinnimon buns fresh from the oven with hot coffee., The family representative spoke to us at length about the opals and mine. Jewelry in the display case was outstanding.

This was a wonderful place to stop! This quaint cafe gave you plenty of food and had outstanding service. It’s part gem store so you can browse a wide variety of gems and rocks even as you wait for your food, which is quick. We came away full, carrying leftovers, pendants, and post cards!

I've visited three little shops off this exit as my wife likes opals... This one I liked best. The selection was better, and the family proprietors were informative and knowledgeable. They've been doing this for sixty years. That is probably true of all the shops. This visit was fun and a welcome diversion from a long road trip. They mentioned they are open seasonally; closed in the winter.

Really nice place with an excellent selection of stones from the mine send elsewhere. Friendly staff and a reasonable price for everything. There's decent parking and even a lone fuel pump!
